Back in the U.S.A. again we continue the history. Many of you will remember mention of Miss L. Dees-Porch who was the owner of an early Somali out of Lynn-Lee's Lord Dublin and Lo-MiR's Trill-By. Miss Dees-Porch, owner of Lo-Mi-R's Tawa, was very anxious to breed Tawa to a complete outcross somali, so Du-Ro-Al's Samson of Lynn-Lee, first complete outcross Somali at Lynn-Lee was chosen for that purpose. The end result was two beautiful female ruddy Somalis. I pleaded with her to hang on to these little females until I could find breeding homes for them, but alas, since they appeared to be pulling Tawa down (no longer a young cat), she literally dropped them on my doorstep as I was getting ready to leave for a show in Canada with my Somalis. I had no choice at that moment but to take them along, hoping that in Canada perhaps new homes could be found for them with breeders. Dailas Tangleweed went home with Mara Senkevics who was the breeder of Saffron's Falstaf of Lynn-Lee. Mara purchased Tangleweed for her Somali breeding program. It was not long afterward that Mara, who was raising small daughters decided to "go out of cats" and Tangleweed made her way back to the U.S.A. via Carol and Ed Harrison, becoming foundation Somali at the Winery Cattery.
I also met a Canadian breeder named Beverly Reilly who informed me that she had an altered Somali at home, which she occasionally showed as a household pet. Bev Reilly became very interested in the other female kitten, but did not buy her from me until I was just about to leave for the States. Bev stopped me as I was leaving the show hall and Taffita of Mem-Marti took her place in Canadian history. Both of these females have since become a part of Somali history. Dailas Tangleweed of Saffron produced Winery's Pathetique who produced Grand Champions for Winery Cattery - the most famous of which is Grand Champion Winery's Ice Bucket.
Taffita of MeMarti produced perhaps the most Ruddy Somali Grands to date. All of this was not bad for a couple of unwanted little kittens left on my doorstep! In the meantime, another breeder, Kathey McKay appeared on the Mid-West scene bringing new bloodlines to a limited gene pool, namely, DeCeresa's Tigger of Kathay. The Canadian breeders were still working very hard! Don-Al's Rion was produced by Dona & Alice Richings - a red Somali again! The Sakers, Lois & Laura, contributed Falconsview's Ezekiel, Scherazade, and Kahoutek, who went to Bev Reilly. They were to introduce Alvi's Chimo of Lollirand who was owned by Dorethy Drake from the Midwest U.S.A. into Canada. L'Air de Rauch's Rocky Raccoon bred by Ina and the late Mary Rauch went from Foxtail Cattery as foundation stud cat with the background of Caprice de Rauch (first import from Canada and Golden Boise of Lynn-Lee).
